Words are like legos - they can have interchangeable parts. In this unit students will study the construction of words including roots, prefixes and suffixes. Students will also explore how to modify words to make them possessive, a different part of speech and adjust to signify singular and plural. Understanding the basic building blocks of words, will increase students’ vocabulary, improve their spelling and add strategies for decoding unfamiliar words.

Word Structure 2

Teaching number sense gives kids a deeper understanding of our number system, which will in turn prepare them for the algebraic equations to come in the upper elementary grades and middle school. You can create a strong foundational knowledge of number sense with this guided lesson, which provides third graders with targeted instruction and exercises designed by our team of curriculum experts.

Number Sense 2

What percentage of Earth is water? How much money does that water bottle cost? What&#39;s your email? Answering these questions can require the use of symbols. Help your child navigate the many keys on a keyboard, practice using the shift key, and integrate symbols into their writing with these typing symbols games.

Typing Symbols

Understanding how our ten number system works enables students to see interesting and useful patterns and relationships in these math activities. These patterns allow students to develop more efficient mental math strategies when multiplying by multiples of 10 or 100. Students will also review rounding and apply this skill to larger numbers - up to 100,000’s place.

Number Sense 3

Third grade is the year of multiplication. Though it was most likely introduced to kids in second grade, third grade is when kids are tasked with mastering their times tables and developing a stronger understanding of this key operation. Letter writing is an engaging and important writing format for third graders to master. These bottom row keyboarding games slowly integrate symbols to help your child create complete sentences. To end the lesson, children will get to combine all the letters from every row to make words!

Typing Bottom Row 2

Representing data on graphs makes math visual and involves some creativity and design. Plotting data using fractional units takes their learning one step further. Also in this unit, students learn to measure using both traditional units (like inches, feet and yards) and metric units, and how to convert measurements within each system. The concept of measurement gets two dimensional when students explore measuring and working with angles.

Has your child heard of the Tonkinese cat breed? Or the moons Ganymede and Charon? There are so many different names of moons! Through these typing proper noun games, your child will learn some fantastic new place names and famous people as they learn to use the shift key to capitalize letters and type accurately.

Help your child practice typing the bottom row keys individually and in combination with each other accurately and quickly with these gem mining and flying squirrel typing games. Need a tip? Placing thumbs onto the space bar is a great reminder to help your child have good keyboarding form.

Typing Bottom Row 1

Students will have a basic understanding of fractions coming into 4th grade. In this unit students will get to explore new ways of representing fractions, including in a set of data, on number lines and using area models. Students will use their knowledge of fractions to compare fractions with like and unlike denominators.
