Worksheet
Word Search: Compound Words #1
Grab your backpack and your sunglasses—we’re going to search for compound words! To begin, students will color in each compound word in the table, making sure to use a different color for each word. Then, in part two, readers will search for the compound words they highlighted in part one, using the same colors. After completing the word search, students are asked to make another compound word by combining the first and last parts of words they found in the puzzle.
Created for a second- and third-grade curriculum, this worksheet is an engaging way to practice identifying compound words. An understanding of compound words can help learners grow their vocabulary, boost reading comprehension, and strengthen spelling skills.
This worksheet is the first in a series of three. Keep going with Word Search: Compound Words #2 and Word Search: Compound Words #3!
