Winter Word Sort: Short and Long Vowels #3
Give students more colorful word study practice this winter season with this short and long vowel sorting activity! The third in a series of three, this phonics worksheet gives first- and second-grade students essential practice reading and decoding words with both short and long vowel sounds. Each ice skate features a word containing either a long or short vowel sound. As they read the words, learners will use green to color the skates containing short vowel sounds, and orange to identify the skates containing long vowel sounds.
With a new set of 16 words such as face, dress, flute, and pocket, this winter-themed word sort activity is a great way to prepare students for decoding and reading words fluently in grade-level texts.
