Worksheet

Which Animal Can Live in This Habitat? Ponds

Dive into habitat studies with this second- and third-grade worksheet! To begin, young scientists will review the definition of a habitat and write a brief description of a pond. Students will then read a paragraph about how habitats can meet the different needs of animals. Lastly, learners will determine whether a frog, squirrel, and shark could live in a pond, based on each animal’s needs.

As students complete this activity, not only will they learn more about how animals interact with their habitats, but they will strengthen their logical reasoning abilities as well! Learners will present evidence in order to make claims about how well each organism would survive in the habitat. Gathering evidence and presenting claims are important skills to have not only for future scientific research, but for outside the classroom, too!
