Where Do I Live? Prairie Dog

Discover the habitat of a prairie dog with this cut-and-paste worksheet! Kindergarteners will begin by reading about a few of the things an animal needs to survive. Students must then identify specific needs of a prairie dog from a list of six items. Then, using their answers, young scientists will determine whether a prairie dog lives in the plains or in a desert.

While food, water, and shelter are all important for an animal’s survival, habitats can provide for those needs in different ways. This worksheet will help learners understand the different ways in which a habitat can meet an animal’s specific needs. Understanding animals’ interactions with their habitats is important as students learn more about ecosystems and adaptations.
