Using Rounding Up or Down to Estimate an Answer

Rounding numbers can be tricky. Teach your third graders the rhyme: five or more up the score, four or less let it rest. This will help students when they are rounding any number from tens to thousands. For example, when 45 is rounded to the nearest ten, it is 50. Five or more up the score!
