Using Coordinating Conjunctions: The Carnival

Take a trip to the carnival with this coordinating conjunction worksheet! Coordinating conjunctions are words that can be used to combine two independent clauses into a compound sentence. There are seven coordinating conjunctions: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so. In each task, learners are provided two carnival-themed sentences that they must combine using a coordinating conjunction.

Created with third and fourth graders in mind, this worksheet provides excellent guided practice for learners working towards writing more complex sentences. As students become more familiar with this concept, they will be ready to tackle other parts of speech and continue to strengthen their writing and editing skills.
