Using Coordinating Conjunctions: Stargazing

Want to connect two words, phrases, or sentences, but not sure how? Try using a coordinating conjunction! In this fourth-grade worksheet, students will read through eight incomplete sentences about a boy stargazing in his backyard. Then, learners need to choose the correct coordinating conjunction to fill in the blank and finish the sentence.

Coordinating conjunctions are an important tool students can use to create more complex sentences in both their speech and their writing. There are not many commonly-used coordinating conjunctions, but learners may still struggle when deciding which ones to use in certain contexts. Make sure students gain a strong understanding of the meaning and usage of each coordinating conjunction with this worksheet!

Students struggling with this practice can first try Using Coordinating Conjunctions: Animals and Using Coordinating Conjunctions: Travel. For even more practice with coordinating conjunctions, check out Using Coordinating Conjunctions: Arts and Crafts and Using Coordinating Conjunctions: Aquarium.
