Shapes and Pictures

A good way to help your first grader learn his shapes is to connect them to things in real life. Almost anything—houses, cars, boats, even pets—are made up of common shapes your kid is sure to recognize. Here's a worksheet to help him see shapes in real things. Using the circles, triangles, and rectangles at the top of the page, he'll make pictures of three different common things.
