Sugar and Spice

This story is sugar and spice and everything nice about reading comprehension! Students in third and fourth grade work on understanding text evidence and fiction comprehension as they answer seven questions about a short story.

This multi-page worksheet includes a simple story about a mother and daughter baking a birthday cake. Students can read the story independently, or you can read it together. Then, learners answer the questions designed to gauge their comprehension of different events from the story. These questions begin to engage critical thinking skills, too.
