Phonics Practice Test: Vowel Sounds

Evaluate your skills in identifying vowel sounds with this helpful test sheet! Students will look at each picture and identify the word that represents it, like “dog,” “pants,” or “shirt.” Then, they will determine which of the multiple-choice answers has a word with the same vowel sound as the picture word. 

This worksheet is a great way to test first graders’ ability to identify long and short vowel sounds from A to U. Not only will students practice their reading and vowel sound skills, but they will also practice their logical reasoning skills as they identify the word associated with each image!
