Personification Practice: Fall Orchard Adventures

Practice using personification with this autumnal worksheet! In part one, students will choose the word that adds personification to each sentence. Are the mums friendly or vibrant? Then, in part two, students will read five sentences and identify both the nonhuman object and the human characteristic given to it.

Created for fifth through eighth graders, this worksheet provides scaffolded opportunities for learners to practice personification. Learning to identify and apply personification will inspire students to add creativity to their own writing! Familiarity with figurative language can also strengthen young readers’ comprehension and analysis skills.

If students are ready to write their own examples of personification, check out Personification: Bring Your Writing to Life. For additional practice, try the Complete Sentences Using Personification worksheet.
