Worksheet
Pack for Your Picnic: Choose A or An
Before you head out on your picnic, don’t forget to bring an article or two! This worksheet explains to students that the words a and an are articles, and which one they should use depends on the starting sound of the following word. Learners will be presented with pictures of 15 picnic items. They’ll need to decide whether each word should have a or an in front of it.
This worksheet was designed to fit into third- and fourth-grade curricula. It can further familiarize students with the difference between a and an, and help them understand that the article they should use depends on the starting sound of a word, not the starting letter.
