Novel Study: The Lightning Thief: Post-Reading Response Prompts

After completing the novel The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, give students a chance to reflect on the major themes and events of the story with these response prompts! Designed for sixth-grade learners, this post-reading activity asks students to choose five of the ten prompts to respond to on a separate piece of paper. Readers will analyze shared characteristics of Percy, Grover, and Annabeth, and how they helped the friends successfully complete the quest. Students will also be asked to explore the role of dreams in the story, analyze the Oracle's prophecy and how the predictions played out, assess the parent-child relationships between the gods and their demigod children, and more.
