Novel Study: The Lightning Thief: Design a Camp T-Shirt

After finishing Rick Riordan’s The Lightning Thief, give students this fun artistic assignment as an extension activity! In the story, Percy arrives at Camp Half-Blood where he meets other demigods and uncovers many truths about himself. In this activity, students will flex their creative muscles as they imagine they’ve entered a design contest. Their task is to design a T-shirt for the campers at Camp Half-Blood! Students will consider what images or symbols best represent Camp Half-Blood, its significance, and its campers. Then, they’ll explain their design process and why their T-shirt design should be chosen as the official T-shirt of Camp Half-Blood.
