Novel Study: Holes: Discussion Guide #3

Read and discuss chapters 29–39 of Louis Sachar’s Holes with this helpful guide! Page one of this two-page guide covers chapters 29–33, while page two covers chapters 34–39. Included on each page are comprehension questions about the characters and events of the relevant chapters, two analysis questions that challenge students to consider the meaning of events and reasoning behind certain character or authorial choices, and a prompt that challenges students to think about a personal connection they have to the story. This guide is a great choice for supporting students’ comprehension as they continue reading. Young readers can also practice analyzing character development, making inferences, and citing textual evidence. This guide is part of a Holes novel study intended for fourth through sixth graders.
