Novel Study: Anne of Green Gables: Movie Study

After finishing the novel Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery, give students a chance to watch a movie adaptation and compare the written and visual forms of the story. In this two-page novel study worksheet, students are asked to watch a film adaptation of the novel—such as Kevin Sullivan’s 1985 film or Moira Walley-Beckett’s 2017 series Anne With An E—and complete the graphic organizer and answer questions. Learners will be prompted to compare and contrast various aspects of the two versions and share their opinion about which they prefer.
