Multiplying Decimals Using Area Models: Tenths and Hundredths #1

Learn to use area models to solve decimal multiplication problems with this essential worksheet! In each of these six problems, students are presented with a multiplication problem including one whole number and one decimal. Learners can use the accompanying area model that represents the problem in order to multiply and solve the problem. Three problems include decimals to the tenths place and three include decimals to the hundredths place. 

Use this worksheet to introduce fifth graders to a method of solving decimal multiplication problems involving a helpful visual model. These area model problems can help students better visualize and comprehend how partial products can be used with decimal multiplication. Students can also practice their mental math skills as they work through these problems!
