Methods of Charging Part 2: Charging by Conduction
Why do doorknobs and high-fives sometimes give you an electric shock? Read all about charging by conduction in this middle-grade science worksheet! On the first page, students are introduced to charging by conduction through a scenario in which a person is shocked by static electricity. Young scientists will then review charging by friction, learn about insulators and conductors, and discover how charges can flow between conductors. Each of these concepts will connect to the original scenario so learners can apply the information in a practical way. To reflect on what they’ve learned, students will then answer critical thinking questions on page two about charging by conduction and the doorknob scenario.
This worksheet is the second in a series about different methods of charging. Be sure to check out the Methods of Charging Part 1: Charging by Friction and Methods of Charging Part 3: Charging by Induction worksheets!
