Mean Absolute Deviation

Mean absolute deviation, or MAD, is a number that measures the variability of a data set, or how spread out the data values are. In this sixth-grade data and graphing worksheet, students will calculate the mean absolute deviation of data sets by finding the mean, finding the distance each data value is from the mean, and then finding the mean of those distances. Being able to find the mean absolute deviation of data sets is a great way to prepare students to describe and compare data sets.
