Let's Convert! Numbers in Standard Form and Scientific Notation #1

Practice writing really big and really small numbers in this eighth-grade worksheet! In the first section, students will convert numbers greater than one million or less than one ten thousandth from standard form to scientific notation. In the second section, students will do the opposite conversion—writing scientific notation numbers in standard form. 

This worksheet is intended to help students become more comfortable with converting and using scientific notation. A strong understanding of scientific notation is vital for students as they continue in both their math and science education. While completing this worksheet, students will also improve their number sense with very large and small numbers!
