Identify Subordinate Clauses in Complex Sentences: Field Day

It’s off to the races with this engaging grammar worksheet! Students will be asked to read 12 complex sentences that tell about experiences at the school field day. Learners will need to find and underline the subordinate clause (also called a dependent clause) in each sentence. Make sure you’re on the lookout for subordinate conjunctions to help you find the right clauses!

This worksheet is appropriate for students in grades three through five who have already learned about complex sentences and subordinating conjunctions. Identifying different types of clauses can be tricky, but a strong understanding of clauses can help students improve both their reading comprehension and their grammar skills in their own writing.
