Worksheet

Identify Appositives and Appositive Phrases #3

Learn to identify appositives, which can provide helpful details, in this middle-grade worksheet! Students will first review an explanation and example of appositives before identifying them on their own. In part one, students will underline the appositive and circle the noun or pronoun which it describes. In part two, readers will follow the same instructions, but underline appositive phrases instead.

Created for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, this practice will familiarize students with the context and purpose of appositives. Learners will see how these descriptors can be used to add detail and provide varied sentence structure, which can benefit students’ own writing.
