This worksheet, a valuable resource, can show you how appositives are used in context! In each of these 12 sentences, learners will need to circle the noun and underline the appositive or appositive phrase. The first six sentences have proper noun appositives, while the next six sentences have appositive phrases instead. 

Try using this worksheet to teach students that appositives are nouns or noun phrases that rename another noun. An understanding of appositives can help students better understand what they are reading, especially as they approach texts with more complex sentences.
