Explore Greek and Latin affixes with this eighth-grade grammar worksheet! Many words in the English language are formed by adding affixes—prefixes and suffixes—that change the meaning of the root word. Familiarity with Greek and Latin affixes helps students connect new and unfamiliar words, which in turn supports their understanding of word meanings. The more affixes they know, the more their vocabulary will improve! 

This one-page vocabulary-building worksheet asks learners to analyze groups of words to find the shared Greek or Latin affix. Students will then determine the meaning of the affix, come up with a new word with the affix, and write its definition.
