Worksheet

Find the Linking Verbs #1

Strengthen third graders’ grammar skills in this linking verbs worksheet! Linking verbs, such as is, am, are, was, or were, link the subject to the noun or adjective in a sentence. In this worksheet, learners will read 10 sentences and circle the linking verb in each one. Then, students will have the opportunity to write their own sentence using a linking verb.

This skill will help young readers understand the definition, purpose, and placement of linking verbs. Identifying linking verbs will also provide a deeper understanding about the nouns and adjectives they link to, allowing students to become stronger readers and writers.
