Find the Helping Verbs #1

Learn to identify helping verbs with this third-grade grammar worksheet! In each of nine sentences, students will circle the helping verb and underline the action verb. After identifying helping verbs, learners are tasked with writing their own sentence, using the helping verb should in addition to a main verb.

This worksheet will help young readers identify that the helping verb is always followed by the main action verb. This will also provide a deeper understanding of how helping verbs can change tenses. Becoming more familiar with different parts of speech will boost students’ reading and writing skills.
