Figurative Language Maze: Spring Metaphors

Let your figurative language skills blossom with this springtime metaphor maze! Middle-grade students will find their way from start to finish by identifying the metaphors mixed among the other figurative language examples. As learners pass through the maze, they will write each letter they pass to solve a mystery metaphor at the bottom of the page.

Created for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, this activity will familiarize learners with the structure of metaphors and provide examples of how they can be used. Learning to distinguish between and use different types of figurative language is important as students begin to use these literary devices in their own writing.
