Worksheet
Factor Linear Expressions Using Area Models #1
Learn to break down linear expressions in this essential worksheet! In each of 6 problems, students are presented with a linear expression including two or three variables and an incomplete area model. Students will need to write the greatest common factor to the left of the model, then write the missing factors above the area model. Finally, learners will need to use the factors they wrote in the area model to rewrite the original expression in its factored form.
This worksheet is perfect for seventh graders learning to perform math operations with algebraic expressions. Students can broaden their understanding of the greatest common factor as they learn to apply it to expressions, not just numerals. The area models in each problem can help learners visualize the problems and support them as they practice factoring expressions.
