Exploring Fossils: Clues from the Past #3

Unearth fossils in this explorative third-grade worksheet! After reading a brief paragraph about body and trace fossils, young scientists will review three fossils: a Parasaurolophus skull, a Neuropteris leaf, and a trilobite. Learners are asked to study each image and answer a series of questions about the type of fossil and its origin. Students will then answer a written-response question using what they've inferred from each fossil.

This worksheet is designed to foster discussion about fossils and where they are found. This activity can get students to talk about their observations, provide evidence for their inferences, and learn from others.
