Worksheet

Estimating Mass: At the Zoo

From the tiniest ant to the biggest elephant, every animal has a mass! Guess how massive different animals are in this charming third-grade worksheet. Learners will be shown nine different animals, each with two potential mass measurements in grams and kilograms. Students will need to decide which measurement would be a better estimate for each animal.

This worksheet is a fun way to build students’ estimation skills with mass in the metric system. Having students think about animals of vastly different sizes and their mass in grams and kilograms can improve students' understanding of the relative “size” of these two units. This knowledge will be vital for students both inside and outside the classroom!

Keep practicing mass estimation with Estimating Mass: Around the House and Choose the Right Unit: Mass.
