Describing Matter #2

What do a key, a goldfish, and a tortoise shell have in common? They’re all solids! Matter can be described by its state, size, color, texture, and shape. For each of six unique items, students are given an image of the item and four descriptive words. Learners must choose two words from the list that correctly describe the object.

Created for second graders, this activity will help students recognize some of the different ways that matter can be described. Learners will also sharpen their critical thinking skills as they analyze each object and its characteristics.

This worksheet is the second in a series about the properties of matter. Check out Describing Matter #1 and Describing Matter #3 for more practice!
