Composing 3D Shapes: Which Faces?

Dissect three-dimensional shapes in this colorful geometry worksheet! This worksheet presents first and second graders with five three-dimensional (3D) shapes: a cube, cone, cylinder, rectangular prism, and a pyramid. Students must determine which two-dimensional (2D) shapes make up the flat faces of each 3D shape. Keep mind that some 3D shapes are made with more than one type of flat face!

This worksheet will help young mathematicians build basic geometry knowledge as they identify three-dimensional shapes and their unique attributes. Familiarity with the makeup of 3D shapes is important as students learn concepts like volume and surface area.
