Composing 3D Shapes: Build It

Discover how structures are built out of individual 3D shapes in this inviting geometry worksheet! Learners will need to inspect five different structures made up of three or more 3D shapes, including cylinders, cubes, rectangular prisms, and cones. Students are asked to circle which types of 3D shapes are in the structure and write how many of each were used.

This worksheet can help first and second graders get familiar with the different types of basic 3D shapes. Learners will need to draw on their spatial reasoning and shape recognition skills in order to answer these problems. Looking at these structures can also get students thinking about what basic 3D shapes make up real-life buildings and objects!
