Worksheet

Complete the Food Chains

Learn about food chains in this cut-and-paste worksheet! To start, young scientists will read a brief definition of a food chain and review an example. Then, students are challenged to complete a meadow food chain and an ocean food chain. Learners will cut out each image at the bottom of the page, determine whether the picture best fits in a meadow or an ocean, then determine the correct order of the food chain.

This worksheet helps first graders see the relationship between the animals and plants found in a food chain.  By grouping the images and gluing them into the correct spots, students will start making connections about how these animals depend on one another for food. This activity can help provide context for learning about animals’ needs and their interactions with ecosystems.
