Comparing Matter #1

What do juice, water, and tea have in common? Compare and contrast matter in this engaging second-grade worksheet! For each group of objects, learners will classify them by state of matter, color, texture, shape, material, or size. Then, students are asked to explain how the items within each group are different.

Throughout this activity, learners will sharpen their observation skills and critical thinking as they analyze the characteristics of each object. Students can become familiar with the many ways in which matter can be described and practice classifying items based on shared traits.
