Worksheet
Build a City: Compose Numbers 11–12
Build a mathematical metropolis with this fun worksheet for second graders! For each building, students will write addition sentences that equal the number on the roof. After learners have filled in all of the windows, they will count up how many number sentences they wrote down for each sum.
This activity is a great way to help young mathematicians build fact fluency. By writing out equations, students will become familiar with how 11 and 12 are composed, and they’ll have a handy reference guide as well! Learners will also see the commutative property of addition at work, as the order of addends in a number sentence does not affect the sum.
