Reflective Writing Prompts: Character Quote Responses

Invite students to reflect on well-known book character’s words in these character quote response worksheets. Analyzing quotes is an important part of interpreting and drawing meaning from an author or speaker’s words. When we closely analyze words and their impact, we build a deeper understanding of the intended meaning.

Featuring quotes from a variety of literary characters, these reflective writing worksheets invite students to respond with words and images as they share their interpretation of the given quotes. They’ll reflect on how the quote applies to their own life or the world at large, and they’ll create a visual representation of the quote. Use these worksheets as a warm-up to begin class, as a writing assessment, or as an independent assignment.
