Learning Objectives
Students will be able to identify and draw parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular lines.
Introduction
(10 minutes)- Tell students that they will learn about the building blocks of geometry: lines.
- Discuss the three types of lines they will be learning about: parallel lines, perpendicular lines, and intersecting lines.
Beginning
- Have students share with the class the equivalent words in their home language (L1) for "geometry" and "lines." Display the terms, along with their definition in English (L2), to create a student-friendly bilingual glossary.
- Pair up students with the same home language (L1) and have them discuss their background knowledge of various types of lines.
Intermediate
- Create a word bank with key terms that will be used throughout the lesson. Provide images and examples to go with each term.
