Get students excited for summer reading by creating some special “To Read” lists!

Learning Objectives
Students will be able to identify some books they would like to read over the summer and explain why.
Introduction
(5 minutes)- Call students together.
- Explain to students that today you are going to be sharing one of your favorite books with them.
- Read The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt.
Beginning
- Preview the text with students prior to the start of the lesson.
- Review or introduce any confusing words or concepts in students' home language (L1).
Intermediate
- Provide students with opportunities to ask questions and clarify anything confusing throughout the read-aloud.
- Pause throughout the read-aloud and instruct students turn and talk to a partner to check for understanding.
