Students will be able to take turns sharing stories with each other.
Introduction
(5 minutes)- Call students together.
- Give each student a building block.
- Place one block in the center of the circle. Instruct students to take turns adding their block on the top of the last to create a tower. Point out that if students rush one another or don’t take turns, the tower might not be straight or stand upright.
Beginning
- Provide a definition of taking turns in student home language (L1).
- Allow students to work with a smaller group.
Intermediate
- Have students repeat the instructions after you to check for understanding.
- Ask students to think about the task prior to adding their block. Have them consider what would happen if all students tried to add their blocks at once.
