Learning Objectives

Students will be able to make predictions about a fiction text.

Introduction

(5 minutes)
  • Ask: “What do you think will happen when you go home today?” Call on a few students to share their ideas.
  • Say: “You just made predictions! Predictions are what you think will happen.”

Beginning:

  • Activate background knowledge by talking about what students did when they went home yesterday.
  • Have students rephrase what a prediction is in their own words (either in English or their home language).

Intermediate:

  • Model how to make a prediction about what you will do when you get home.
  • Have students share with a partner about what a prediction is.
