Learning Objectives

Students will practice reading, spelling, and comparing word families that contain the same vowel.

Introduction

(5 minutes)
  • Gather students together for the start of the lesson.
  • Say, “Today we are going to practice reading, spelling, and comparing word families that use the same vowel. A word family is a group of words that contain the same ending, we see often, and can help us read and spell more words.”
  • Ask the students if they can think of a word family that they have already learned.
  • Allow several students to point out or say known word families.
