Learning Objectives
Students will order objects by length.
Introduction
(5 minutes)- Use snap cubes to make three towers of different lengths. If possible, make each tower with a different color cube.
- Show the towers to the class and ask, “Which tower is the longest?”
Beginning
- Count the cubes chorally with students as you assemble the towers.
- Gesture by moving your hands apart as you say the word "longest."
Intermediate
- Activate prior knowledge of length comparison by asking questions about that reference familiar contexts such as, "Which student has the longest hair?"
- Think aloud about which is longer, a car or a train.
