Learning Objectives

Students will use measuring tape to collect measurement data.

  • Explain that measuring tape is used to measure large items and spaces.

Beginning

  • Define measure in English and student's home language prior to the lesson.
  • Pass around the measuring tape to help students form their ideas.

Intermediate

  • Have students complete a think-pair-share to discuss what it means to measure before showing students the measuring tape.
  • Provide students with a visual bilingual dictionary with important words from the lesson (ie. measure, measuring tape, width).
