Heavier or Lighter?

Learning Objectives
Students will compare the weights of objects.
Introduction
(5 minutes)- Take out the scale and ask students what they think it is.
- Explain that scales are used to measure weights. Ask students if they’ve ever been weighed at the doctor’s office before. Have them compare the scales that they are weighed on with the one you have in the classroom.
Beginning
- Provide definitions of heavy and light in student home language (L1).
- Have students turn and talk to share experiences with scales.
Intermediate
- Provide the sentence frame, "The scale at the doctors is the same as this scale because ________ and different because ________."
