Stop and Jot!
Use this interactive activity to help students learn blends and digraphs and the active reading strategy stop and jot! This lesson can be used as a stand alone activity or a support lesson.

Introduction
(2 minutes)- Explain to students that today they will be learning about blends and digraphs and using the stop and jot active reading strategy to understand and remember details after reading a new short story.
- Remind students that good readers comprehend what they are reading. Call on a few volunteers to explain what the word comprehension means. Clarify that comprehension means, "I understand what I read."
- Ask students to stand up and repeat the following chant with movement:
- Comprehension means I understand (touch head) what I read!
