The lesson plan, Reading Picture Clues is geared towards first grade EL learners and introduces young readers to using pictures as clues to help read a text. Using the sentence starter, "In the picture I see ..." children are able to come up with different ideas on how to interpret a picture. Being able to interpret pictures is a great way to build reading comprehension and improves vocabulary as they learn new words! These are essential skills for children to build to become proficient readers.
