Understanding Character Traits, Understanding Plot Lesson Part III
Have you ever read a story and immediately began to compare the characters to those of your favorite story? In this lesson, students will learn to read context clues and descriptions in order to understand characters and compare them.

Learning Objectives
Students will be able to recognize character traits and use these traits to compare and contrast main characters.
Introduction
(5 minutes)- Tell students to get out their workbooks and pencils and turn to page 9.
- Explain to your students that today they are going to be determining character traits from context clues.
Beginning
- Allow students to define character traits and context clues in groups in their home language (L1) or new language (L2).
Intermediate
- Access their background knowledge regarding context clues and character traits with a quick true or false survey categorizing character traits.
