Learning Objectives
Students will be able to subtract 100 from multiples of 100.
Introduction
(5 minutes)- Write the following numbers on the board: 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 and 1,000.
- Ask students what these numbers have in common.
- Explain that all of these numbers are multiples of 100. This means that 100 two times is 200, three times is 300, etc.
Beginning
- Provide students with a video of someone counting by multiples of 100 up to 1,000 in their home language (L1).
- Guide students to point to and say the multiples of 100 up to 1,000 in English.
Intermediate
- Have students explain what multiple means to an elbow partner.
- Challenge students to list the multiples of 100.
